Yemen's Houthis, backed by Iran, have become a strong army, UN reports.

Yemen's rebels, known as the Houthis, have grown from a small group with limited forces into a powerful military organization receiving support from Iran, Iraqi groups and Hezbollah militants. This became known from the UN Security Council report, reported by the Associated Press. It is noted that the Houthis use military conflicts, such as the war between Israel and Hamas, to increase their popularity both in the region and beyond.

Experts have pointed out that the Houthis are attacking ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, violating international rules and undermining the geopolitical stability of the region. Research has shown that the insurgents are targeting ships without discrimination, despite claims that they are targeting ships linked to Israel.

Analysis of the data showed that the Houthis carried out at least 134 attacks on US and British ships and warships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden over a period of time. Using the new Hatem-2 ballistic missile, the Houthis demonstrated their combat capability.

Experts emphasized that the conflict in Yemen, which began as an internal struggle, has now acquired an international dimension. The number of Houthis has grown from 30 thousand in 2015 to 350 thousand people now, indicating significant growth of the organization. The transformation of the group was possible thanks to the transfer of military equipment and training of the elite forces of Iran, Hezbollah, as well as Iraqi specialists.

American B-2 bombers struck Houthi weapons depots in Yemen, indicating the involvement of international forces in the conflict. Overall, the situation in Yemen has become one of the major international crises requiring intervention and solutions.
