The top UN official in Lebanon stressed the urgency of the call for a 21-day truce between Israel and Hezbollah. He called for a way to ensure compliance with the long-violated UN Security Council resolution. UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plaschert stressed the need for a realistic roadmap with clear implementation mechanisms.

Hennis-Plasschert noted that the failure to implement resolution 1701 has led to a difficult situation. She supported the call for a ceasefire, believing that diplomacy must be used to achieve success. At the same time, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon noted the importance of ensuring the implementation of the resolution.

Danon emphasized Israel's faith in Resolution 1701 and the need for an active role for the Lebanese military and the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. He expressed his belief that the force must prevent Hezbollah from returning to danger zones. In addition, the urgency of the problem is highlighted by the incident of the missile that killed people in Kiryat Shmona, which requires immediate action.
