On August 7, one of the reservists who was detained and later released as part of the investigation into violations at Sde Teiman took part in the Patriot program on Channel 14. He came to the studio in an army uniform and a balaclava that hid his face.
Speaking to host Yinon Magal, the reservist admitted that he was embarrassed to be in front of the cameras, but after a woman stopped him on the street and asked if he had raped a terrorist, he felt obligated to tell everyone: “We are IDF soldiers. We are not like them. We do not engage in violence, and we will not allow ourselves to be portrayed as rapists.”
The guest of the Patriot program emphasized in every statement that neither he nor his fellow soldiers did what they were accused of. “We are all family people, we all have children. We sacrificed everything for the sake of fighting these scum, these creatures that cannot be called people,” he repeated.
After the reservist appeared on television in uniform and with his face covered, Channel 14's website reported that his commander had suspended him from further service.
