The Canadian government announced Wednesday it has decided to evacuate the children and guardians of its diplomats from Israel amid fears of escalating tensions in the Middle East. They will be moved to a safe third country after Global Affairs Canada approved the temporary move.
The diplomats stationed in Ramallah and Beirut have no family ties to them. Due to the ongoing regional conflict, Canada has urged its citizens to avoid travel to Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, citing unpredictable conditions.
However, Canada's embassies in Tel Aviv and Beirut, as well as its mission to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, continue to operate as normal and provide essential services to Canadian citizens, the Government of Canada said in a statement.
