NAnews – Nikk.Agency Israel News

On September 12, 2026, a striking story appeared in the Russian information field. Russia allegedly brought new weapons to Egypt, capable of “creating serious problems for Israel.” The range allows threatening Israeli cities, the “Iron Dome” may not cope, the deployment of such weapons in Egypt or Syria would turn into a “nightmare for Tel Aviv,” and Moscow, by merely showcasing the missile at the exhibition, has already put Israel and the USA in a difficult position.

Author: Lev Varshavsky

The origin gave this story particular credibility: it was claimed that this is what Chinese military analysts think, and the source was named as the 360kuai platform.

However, there was no direct link to the Chinese original.

NANews decided to trace the chain backward. The author of the material, Lev Varshavsky, checked publications about the Russian “Dan-T” since the end of August, official messages from Rostec, data from Rosoboronexport, Janes, Ukrainian military intelligence, the Chinese platform Sohu, the history of a specific Chinese account, and 360kuai itself.

It turned out not to be a story about secret Russian weapons that suddenly scared China for Israel.

It turned out to be an information loop: Russian data about weapons — Chinese clickbait with added Israel — the return of this text to Russia already in the guise of an external Chinese assessment.

At the same time, the missile itself is quite real. And underestimating it would also be a mistake.

What Russia actually showed in Egypt

On September 8, 2026, Rostec officially announced the world premiere of the “Dan-T” loitering munition at the El Alamein International Airshow. The exhibition took place from September 8-10 at the El Alamein International Airport. The Russian side presented hundreds of weapon samples there; only 35 Russian defense industry organizations were declared.

Rostec reported on a small-sized jet engine, autonomous flight after launch, a range of “several hundred kilometers,” and the ability to use the product from airplanes and helicopters, including foreign ones. Simultaneously, the corporation stated that the effectiveness of “Dan-T” is confirmed by “hundreds of successful launches” on targets in Ukraine. There is no independent confirmation of the exact number of these launches — this is a statement from the Russian manufacturer.

.......

More precise characteristics were obtained by Janes directly from a Rosoboronexport representative on September 8: maximum takeoff weight 268 kg, warhead 130 kg, maximum speed 500 km/h, range 450 km, guidance GNSS/INS. There, the Russian side representative confirmed the possibility of adapting the weapon for non-Russian combat aircraft.

This is important because even before the exhibition, slightly different figures were circulating through Russian channels — 500 km and 135 kg. On August 29, a Russian publication, citing the Telegram channel “Military Chronicle,” explicitly stated: these parameters were not confirmed by the developer at that time.

Thus, the first substitution arose, small but indicative. The official 450 km gradually began to turn into 500, and then these additional kilometers were needed for the story about Israel.

Before Israel, there was Ukraine

Another part of the story almost disappears if you look only at the Egyptian exhibition.

In appearance, “Dan-T” is extremely similar to the Russian S8000 “Banderol,” used against Ukraine since 2025. Janes writes that this indicates an export version of the “Banderol.” On September 9, Russian expert Alexander Stepanov publicly called “Dan-T” its export version.

But it is still too early to equate them. The manufacturer has not officially published the design of “Dan-T,” and a disassembled Ukrainian specimen of the export version is not yet available.

However, the “Banderol” itself is well known to Ukrainian intelligence. The GUR database lists the developer — JSC “Kronstadt,” range about 500 km, carrier UAV “Orion,” and prospective integration with Mi-28N. The component base is also revealed there. Chinese turbojet engine Swiwin SW800Pro-A95, Australian RF Design RFD900x telemetry module, Japanese Murata batteries, South Korean Dynamixel servos from Robotis, Russian “Kometa-M8,” and electronic elements from manufacturers in several countries. Currently, the War&Sanctions database lists 24 enterprises associated with this missile.

Early Ukrainian analysis spoke of more than twenty key components and about thirty production and supply enterprises. Among the discovered electronics were components of American, Chinese, Swiss, Japanese, and South Korean origin.

And there is another figure that cannot be lost.

On August 28, Ukrainian Militarnyi, citing military analyst kriegsforscher, reported on a possible Russian plan to produce about 10,000 “Dan-T” in 2027. There was also an assessment that the new munition could be about 35% cheaper than “Banderol”, and the Russian Aerospace Forces are considering a gradual transition to it. Deputy Head of GUR Vadim Skibitsky previously stated that one of Russia’s tasks for “Dan-T” is to switch to its own component base.

.......

The number ten thousand is not confirmed by a Russian contract or production statistics. Therefore, this is not an established production volume, but an assessment that should be designated as such.

But if Russia is indeed trying to make the product significantly cheaper and more massive than “Banderol,” this is much more serious than discussions about whether someone liked the model at the exhibition.

Ukraine already knows that for air defense, sometimes more dangerous than a “super missile” are dozens of relatively cheap targets coming simultaneously and from different directions.

And this Ukrainian experience directly concerns Israel.

NANews previously reported how the technologies of the war in Ukraine are already forcing Israel to change its approach to new types of drone threats. Israel is looking for an answer to the new threat: why drones on fiber optics from the war in Ukraine are changing defense priorities

And then on September 10, Israel appeared

On September 10 at 10:27, the Chinese platform Sohu publishes an article by the account 兵器展望, which can be roughly translated as “Weapons Review.”

The headline leaves no room for nuance: Russian “trump card weapon” appeared in Egypt, its 500 kilometers allegedly allow “to penetrate Israel,” and the USA will not be able to interfere.

Sohu marks the publication as 原创 — original material.

The technical part is easily recognizable. Weight about 270 kg. Jet engine. Official 450 km and 500 km that appeared in the media. The possibility of installation on different airplanes and helicopters. The use of Russian weapons of this family in the war against Ukraine.

All this was already circulating in the Russian field before September 10.

And then the text suddenly goes further.

The author claims that “Dan-T” is capable of threatening Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa. The demonstration in Egypt is declared a deliberate strategic signal. Russia, according to the author, wants to undermine Israeli regional superiority. Egypt supposedly receives weapons suitable for its American and French aircraft, and Moscow is allegedly ready to transfer technologies for localization of production.

No confirmed contract of Egypt for “Dan-T,” no decision on local production of this missile, no technology transfer was found by NANews.

Then “Iron Dome” appears. The author assures that it is good against slow missiles and simple UAVs, but its effectiveness against “Dan-T” is questionable.

Next, Syria arises: the Russian base Khmeimim and the possibility of threatening northern Israel from there.

Finally, a very broad conclusion is made: through new weapons, Russia supposedly begins to break the American order in the Middle East.

At this stage, the facts about the product end, and the author’s geopolitical scenario begins.

Sohu is not “official China”

To understand the weight of such a publication, it was necessary to check the platform itself.

Sohu is one of the large Chinese commercial internet platforms, but it is not Xinhua, not CCTV, not the Ministry of Defense of the PRC, and not a research institute of the People’s Liberation Army.

Sohu.com Limited is registered in the Cayman Islands, its shares are traded in the USA under the ticker SOHU, and the main office is located in Beijing. The founder, chairman, and CEO of the company, Charles Zhang, as of February 20, 2026, was the largest shareholder and beneficially controlled about 44.5% of the common shares.

Separate SEC reporting shows 11,048,400 shares accounted for Zhang through Photon Group Limited, registered in the British Virgin Islands.

So there is a foreign corporate shell and an American exchange here. A Russian controlling owner or a large Russian package was not found in the studied current reporting by NANews.

And even more importantly: Sohu itself directly warns under the materials of the account 兵器展望 that the opinion belongs to the author, and Sohu acts as a platform for placing information.

Therefore, phrases like “in China they believe” or “Chinese military experts concluded” already significantly change the scale of the original source.

There is an author’s account on a large private platform.

This is not the same.

Who is 兵器展望 and where is his Russian trace

There is no specific journalist’s name in the open part of the profile. The account designates the place of publication as Shanxi Province and releases a huge stream of military-political materials.

And here the Russian trace is indeed found. Just not one that would allow claiming Russian financing.

In a number of previous articles, this same account directly uses the Russian state agency Sputnik as a source.

In February 2025, in an article about British ships in the Taiwan Strait, it is directly stated: the information is reported by the Russian agency Sputnik.

In the material about the alleged new generation Chinese aircraft, the source is again introduced with the words “according to the Russian Sputnik.”

The same happens in the publication about the flight of the American B-1B and the actions of the USA and the Philippines.

This is not proof that 兵器展望 is organizationally connected with Russian structures. And certainly not proof of the text being paid for by Moscow.

But this is already an established fact: Russian state and Russian military-political sources regularly enter the set of materials from which this Chinese account builds its publications.

So the appearance of the Russian military-technical agenda with him does not look like a coincidence at all.

The Russian basis existed even before the Sohu article

The chronology here is quite eloquent.

On August 28-29, Russian and Ukrainian military sources discuss 500 km, 135 kg, possible mass production of “Dan-T,” ground and aviation carriers.

On September 7, it becomes known about a large Russian exposition in Egypt — 35 organizations and more than 500 product samples.

On September 8, Rostec officially presents the missile and talks about its jet engine, range of several hundred kilometers, autonomous application, and foreign aviation carriers.

On September 9, a Russian expert calls “Dan-T” an export “Banderol.”

And only on September 10, the account 兵器展望 compiles a publication from this, in which Israel, Iron Dome, Egypt as a potential operator, and Khmeimim appear.

NANews specifically searched for publications before 10:27 on September 10 for combinations of “Dan-T” with Tel Aviv, Israel, “Iron Dome,” and Khmeimim. An earlier Russian text where this entire construction would exist as a whole could not be found.

Therefore, it would be incorrect to write that the Chinese author simply translated a ready-made Russian propaganda article.

The picture is more complex.

The technical raw material largely came from the Russian information field. The Israeli superstructure, judging by the found chronology, the Chinese account already assembled itself.

By the way, three days before that — on September 7 — the same 兵器展望 wrote about Egyptian aviation, American influence on Cairo’s military purchases, and Egypt’s attempts to diversify suppliers. So the framework “Egypt between different arms centers” was ready for the author in advance.

Where did 360kuai disappear

And then comes September 12, 2026.

Russian ABN24 publishes material at 17:40 and informs readers that “military analysts from China” consider the new Russian weapon an unpleasant surprise for Israel and the USA.

The source is directly named as 360kuai. Then the editorial writes: “ABN24 presents an exclusive retelling of the article”.

Then the already familiar construction is reproduced: 270 kg, several hundred kilometers, the proximity of El Alamein to Israel, doubts about the effectiveness of Iron Dome, possible deployment in Egypt and Syria, and “nightmare for Tel Aviv.”

But there is no direct link to the Chinese material.

NANews searched the 360kuai page by the name of the missile, characteristic formulations, and combinations with Israel and “Iron Dome.” An indexable page corresponding to the Russian retelling could not be found.

This does not prove that it never existed.

And here is a significant detail. 360kuai itself describes itself as a large system for receiving, processing, and distributing content from media, organizations, MCN, and author accounts. The platform separately advertises automatic material processing and AIGC tools.

Therefore, a simple option is quite possible: the publication 兵器展望 could have entered the 360 ecosystem, been aggregated or redistributed, and then stopped being properly indexed.

But for now, this is just a possible explanation.

The established fact is different: practically the entire plot, which on September 12 the Russian publication attributed to 360kuai, was already in the article 兵器展望 on Sohu on September 10.

Those very “500 kilometers to Israel”

The Chinese text makes a very clever transition.

First, it reports: the official range of “Dan-T” is 450 km, some sources talk about 500.

And the very next logical step becomes the assertion that the weapon from El Alamein is capable of covering Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa.

If you count from El Alamein International Airport, located approximately at 30.924° N, 28.462° E, to Tel Aviv in a straight line about 613 km, to Jerusalem approximately 648 km, to Haifa about 650 km. The coordinates of the airport are confirmed by aviation directories.

So the range of 450 or even 500 km itself does not allow launching the product in the airport area and reaching these cities.

But there is a nuance that cannot be hidden for the sake of a beautiful debunking.

“Dan-T” is an aviation munition. An aircraft can take off from El Alamein, travel hundreds of kilometers east, and only then perform a launch. Then the geometry, of course, changes completely.

Therefore, the mistake of the Chinese text is not that “Dan-T can never threaten Israel.”

The mistake is different: the place of the airshow is imperceptibly turned into a launch point, and the missile’s own range becomes proof that it already “covers” the main cities of Israel.

These are different things.

And one more small stroke. In the very first paragraph of the publication, the exhibition El Alamein 2026 is called an event of August 2016.

A ten-year error in itself proves nothing. But for a text claiming to be a geostrategic analysis of the Middle East, it looks characteristic.

Why the conversation only about “Iron Dome” also manipulates the picture

For the Israeli reader, the most noticeable part of the story is the assertion that “Dan-T” may turn out to be too complex a target for Iron Dome.

The problem lies in the very framing of the question.

Israel’s air and missile defense is multi-layered. In February 2026, after another series of tests, the Israeli Ministry of Defense explicitly stated that David’s Sling is designed to counter cruise missiles, aircraft, and UAVs.

The Iron Dome itself is not limited to primitive rockets. On June 30, 2026, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced the completion of a new series of tests against missiles, cruise missiles, and UAVs, with scenarios involving high-density fire being specifically tested.

The Tamir interceptor is also officially declared capable of targeting cruise missiles and drones.

This does not necessarily mean that Israel will guarantee to shoot down every ‘Dan-T’. Such tests have not been conducted—at least there is no public data on them.

But there is no evidence to the contrary either.

And the phrase ‘Iron Dome works well with simple targets, and the new Russian missile will be a problem for it’ ignores the very principle of Israel’s layered defense.

For Israel, the real question is different: how many such targets can come simultaneously, at what altitude, from which directions, along with which drones and missiles, and how cheaply the enemy can create a defense overload.

And here the Ukrainian experience becomes much more useful than the Chinese headline.

NANews has already explained in detail to the Israeli reader why it is impossible to simply compare the air defenses of Israel and Ukraine with a single number or system. Who really keeps the Ukrainian sky closed: why Israel flies, and Ukraine does not yet

So was this a Russian information injection?

There is no evidence that Moscow ordered the publication of 兵器展望, paid the author, or coordinated the appearance of the text on Sohu in advance.

This needs to be stated directly.

There is also no established Russian owner of Sohu.

But there is another, already verifiable chain.

Russia creates a military-technical agenda around new weapons. Russian sources provide technical data and advertise combat use against Ukraine. A Chinese account, which previously regularly used Sputnik, receives this foundation, adds its own Middle Eastern construction—Egypt, Israel, Iron Dome, Khmeimim, and the USA.

Two days later, the Russian publication returns almost the same story to its readers.

Only now it is no longer a Russian assessment of its own weapons.

Now it is ‘this is what Chinese analysts think’.

This is exactly the mechanism that researchers of information operations call information laundering, where a thesis passes through an external source and returns with added authority of an independent foreign opinion.

Can it be proven that this was a specially organized operation in this case? No.

Can the information route itself be shown? Yes.

And it is quite visible.

What remains if you remove the propaganda

‘Dan-T’ is not a dummy. Russia is indeed bringing a new relatively compact reactive weapon to export, closely linked to the experience of the war against Ukraine.

If the assessments of price reduction and plans for mass production are at least partially confirmed, this could become a serious additional threat for Ukraine. For Israel, the question will become practical if such products indeed appear in the states or forces of the region and are integrated with suitable carriers.

But as of September 13, 2026, NANews has not found confirmation of Egypt purchasing ‘Dan-T’, its deployment in Syria, the transfer of production technology to Egypt, or tests of the missile against Israeli air defense systems.

The primary indexable material 360kuai, which the Russian retelling referred to, was also not found.

However, an earlier Sohu text was found where almost the entire story about the ‘nightmare for Tel Aviv’ was already assembled.

Therefore, the real conclusion of this investigation turns out to be a bit more unpleasant for the authors of the loud sensation.

The new Russian missile exists. The threat of mass cheap weapons also exists.

But the story of how Russia, with just one demonstration of ‘Dan-T’ in El Alamein, scared Israel and stumped the USA, currently looks quite different.

First, Russian characteristics ended up in Chinese clickbait.

Then the Chinese clickbait returned to Russia.

And there it was presented as China’s opinion.
