American Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker noted that under President Donald Trump, Ukraine was able to significantly deepen its strikes on Russian territory. This is markedly different from the approach of the current administration of Joe Biden.
A new military aid package worth nearly a billion dollars is already being sent to Kyiv. Every month, Washington continues to provide support to Ukraine in a similar amount, acting in cooperation with NATO allies.
Political expert Petro Oleshchuk on September 2, 2025, emphasized the contradictory rhetoric of the Trump administration on the air of “Unified News.” According to him, the positions of individual members of Trump’s team can vary drastically, indicating the president’s own inconsistency.
The expert also highlighted that the most significant strikes on Russian targets are carried out by Ukraine with the help of its own capabilities and support from partners under the “Danish model.” The strategy, including recent attacks on the Druzhba pipeline and the terminal in the Leningrad region, points to Ukraine’s independent approach. Oleshchuk added that Trump’s policy is more reflective of expectations than ethical pressure on Russia to achieve peace or serious negotiations.
Additionally, Oleshchuk commented on the possibility of a trilateral meeting, noting Putin’s recent visits to China. These events, according to the expert, underscore the visible strengthening of the Moscow-Beijing alliance. He suggests that China is not interested in the swift resolution of the conflict, and Putin’s main goal in the negotiations is to confirm support from the Chinese leadership.
Thus, the U.S. needs a clear definition of its policy towards Russia, taking into account its role as China’s main ally, and Trump’s rhetoric is unlikely to have a significant impact on Moscow.
