Iran continues to supply Russia with attack drones and missiles for its war against Ukraine, while Russia provides Tehran with oil and technical expertise.
However, Iranians believe that Moscow is not fulfilling its obligations to the country. This is stated in the material The Telegraph.
According to them, after Russian troops invaded Ukraine in 2022, Iran and Russia became allies, expanding a partnership begun during the Syrian civil war a decade ago.
Moscow may continue to support Iran despite unconfirmed rumors of sending fighter jets and a missile defense system to the country, the sources said. However, there is a feeling in Tehran that the Kremlin is not keeping its promises.
“Our relationship with Putin is like being friends with a man who never pushes back when you go out with him,” said an anonymous professor at a university near Tehran.
Iran's economy has been hit so hard by Western sanctions that it has become a weak partner for Russia.
“Pezeshkian (Iranian President) just needs to please Putin, perhaps by promising to send Russia more drones for use in the war in Ukraine,” the source added.
The Telegraph's revelation of the Russian Kremlin's support for the Iranian-backed Hamas group drew criticism from Iranian media.
The Iranian newspaper Ettelaat accused Putin of “abandoning” Iran in the Gaza Strip and “keeping his distance from the crisis.” Another newspaper, Hamshahri, said the Kremlin needs to fulfill its promise to send Iran advanced S-400 missile defense systems.
